I’m new to Kickstarter. How does this work?
Kickstarter lets creators fund new projects before they go into production. When you “back” Hands of Fate, you’re choosing a reward and pledging support for the campaign.
Here’s the basic process: Choose a reward: Select the reward tier you want, such as the Core Game Set, Game + Tarot Deck, Tarot Game Duo, or Collector’s Edition.
You’re only charged if the campaign funds: Your card is charged after the campaign ends, and only if Hands of Fate reaches its funding goal. If the campaign does not fund, you are not charged.
After the campaign: We’ll send a survey through BackerKit, a management service that helps backers confirm rewards, shipping addresses, and any add-ons.
Shipping: This will be charged after the campaign based on your location. Estimated shipping rates are listed on the campaign page.
Delivery: We currently expect rewards to ship in November or December. This is an estimate because the game will be produced after the campaign ends.
Backing on Kickstarter is different from ordering from a store: you’re helping bring the project to life, following along as it moves through production, and receiving any campaign rewards or bonuses included with your pledge.

Do I need a tarot deck to play Hands of Fate?
The Core Game is designed for players who already have a tarot deck they love, so it does not include a deck. All other rewards include Tarot of the Crossroads, our complete 78-card hand-drawn tarot deck with upright and reversed meanings printed on every card.

Do I need to know tarot in order to be able to play?
No. Hands of Fate uses real tarot meanings, but you do not need to memorize cards or read from a tarot manual. The game gives players clear roles, prompts, and structure so beginners can join while experienced tarot readers can draw on their knowledge to add nuance, symbolism, and depth.

How many players is Hands of Fate for?
Hands of Fate is designed for 1–6 players. Solo play is reflective and personal; two-player play tends to feel like a more intimate, collaborative reading; and with 3+ players, rival Fates compete to shape the Traveler’s path and engage in final vote and wager.

When will rewards ship, and how is shipping charged?
Shipping will be collected after the campaign through a management service called BackerKit, where you’ll confirm your reward, address, and shipping. Estimated rates are listed on the campaign page, with VAT prepaid where applicable. Rewards are anticipated to ship in November or December. You’ll need to complete your post-campaign survey with your current shipping address so we can send your reward to the correct address.

How is Hands of Fate different from Mystic Crossroads?
Mystic Crossroads is a fully cooperative tarot journey centered on reflection, storytelling, and shared insight. Hands of Fate looks more toward possible futures: rival Fates present different paths, the Traveler chooses what carries forward, and larger groups add Favor Tokens, voting, and a final wager. Both use real tarot meanings, but they create distinctly different experiences.

Can I add Mystic Crossroads or another item to my pledge?
Yes. Choose the reward level that already includes most of what you want. After the campaign, you can add available items individually through BackerKit, where you’ll also confirm your shipping address and finalize your pledge. Available items will include Mystic Crossroads, the Tarot of the Crossroads deck, and additional copies of Hands of Fate.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
